Steven A. Vance, 56, of Ipava died at 4:08 p.m. July 8, 2025, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born May 6, 1969, in Rushville, a son of Don and Nancy Umphryes Vance. He married Tabatha “Sam” Scott on Jan. 1, 1996, in Corinth, Miss. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Nichole (and Josh) Miller of Bernadotte; four sons, Jonathan (and Ashley) Vance of Table Grove, Danny (and Kailey) Vance of Nashville, Tenn., Jeremy (and Tanya) Scott of Hurst, Texas, and Justin (and AJ) Scott of Rushville; mother, Nancy (and Larry Hall) Umphreys-Hayes of Vermont; one sister, Shannon (and Jim) Jones of Vermont; stepmother, Connie Vance of Macomb; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Don Vance; stepfather, Steve Kinne; one brother, Michele Vance; and grandparents.
He was a professional driver and drove over three and a half million miles through his career.
He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #17 and was in charge of making the baked beans for the yearly Bernadotte Park fish fry.
He attended church at The Crossing in Macomb.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Nick Sash officiating. Burial will be in the Ipava Cemetery immediately following the Celebration of Life. A meal will be held at the Ipava Legion following the graveside service.
