Charlie A. Skiles, 79, of Astoria, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 1975, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
Mr. Skiles was born Dec. 21, 1895, at Browning, the son of James and Rose Stambaugh Skiles. He married Mary Kolp Feb. 23, 1915, at Rushville. She survives.
He was a retired farmer and a life time resident of the Astoria area. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Edward of Industry, Charles E. of Astoria and Orrin at home; five daughters, Mrs. Edith West of McCall, Idaho, Mrs. Edna Fisk of Astoria, Mrs. Mary Haney of Industry, Mrs. Alice Kiel of Aurora and Mrs. Aloise Beaird of Springfield; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Cox of Browning and five brothers, Henry and Lester of Browning, Monroe of Astoria, Donald of Bowen and John of Industry. He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents and a sister.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Oliver S. Knell officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.

Charlie Skiles of Astoria died about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening in Memorial Medical center at Springfield. He had been in failing health for the past several months.
