J. Monroe Skiles Age 82, Dies

James Monroe Skiles, 82, a lifelong resident of the Astoria and Browning communities, died at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 1975 at Culbertson Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Jan. 29, 1893, at Browning, the son of James A. and Rose Stambaugh Skiles. He was married Dec. 24, 1912, at Lewistown to Cassie D. Palmer. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frances Beadles of Astoria; one son, Don R. Skiles of Browning; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Henry and Lester of Browning, Donald of Bowen and John of Industry; and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Cox of Browning. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Collis Trone officiated and burial was in Sheldons Grove Cemetery.
