Mrs. Lorraine DeField, of Astoria, passed away at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 1985, at the Astoria Healthcare Center.
She was born July 6, 1900, in Racine, Wis., a daughter of Edward and Grace Critchfield Challis. She married W. E. DeField on Dec. 4, 1918, at Webster Groves, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1985.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Joan Riebling of Vermont; three grandchildren, Greg Riebling of Orange City, Fla., Deb Zander of Geneva and Deanna Butler of Pekin; one great-granddaughter, Melissa Riebling; and one half-brother, William Challis of Chatham.
Mrs. DeField was a past matron of the East Prairie, Mo. Chapter of Eastern Star, later transferring membership to Astoria Chapter No. 144 where she was a 50-year member. She was also a member of White Shrine Chapter 51 of Beardstown and of the United Methodist Church. For over 25 years she and her husband, Emil, operated a Variety Store in Astoria. She retired in 1975.
Astoria Chapter Eastern Star will hold Eastern Star services at 2 p.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Bruce W. Bolin-Ghitalia officiating. Burial will be in the Astoria Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
Memorials may be made to the Astoria United Methodist Church.
