William Emil (W. E.) DeField, 90, of Astoria, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 1985, at the Astoria Healthcare Center.
He was born Nov. 13, 1894, at East Prairie, Mo., a son of Clarence and Annie Webb DeField. He married Lorraine Challis on Dec. 4, 1918, at Webster Grove, Mo. She survives.
Mr. DeField was the owner and operator of a Variety Store in Astoria for 35 years, retiring in 1975.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Joan Riebling of Vermont; three grandchildren, Greg Riebling of Orange City, Fla., Deb Zander of Geneva and Deanna Butler of Pekin; one great-granddaughter, Melissa Riebling; one brother, Eldred DeField of Sikeston, Mo.; and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Gillmore of Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Graveside services were held Tuesday morning at the Astoria Cemetery with Rev. Bruce W. Bolin Ghitalia officiating.
