Dorothy L. Burns Dies In Hospital

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Burns, 75, of rural Ipava (Summum area), died unexpectedly at 2 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 1989, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Vermillion County, Ind., a daughter of Edward and Lenora (Carr) Reffett. She was married to Russell M. Burns in 1949, at Farmersburg, Ind. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Rita Sue Deubert of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Irene Thompson of Portland, Ore.

Mrs. Burns was a member of the Summum Christian Church, White Shrine and Amaranth of Evansville, Ind., and Boonville Chapter #450, Order of Eastern Star, of Boonville, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. James Shirley officiating. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.

Eastern Star Services were conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Memorial Home by Astoria Chapter #144, Order of Eastern Star, of Astoria, Ill., with members Nelda Parker, George Fisk, Betty Vaughn, Madelyn Skiles, Evelyn Danner, Ruth Shaw, Mary Hamm and Loretta Fisk taking part.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
