ROBERT D. WELCH

Robert Welch

Robert D. Welch, 80, of Cuba, formerly of Smithfield, died at 7:10 a.m. Oct. 13, 2024, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

He was born March 22, 1944, in Canton, a son of Woodrow and Frances Martin Welch.

Surviving are one sister, Gloria (and Greg) Towles of Peoria; one brother, Dan (and Rita) Welch of Smithfield; four nephews, Mike Welch of Chicago, Josh (and Ira Katzman) Welch of Chicago, Jake (and Lacey) Welch of Astoria and Joe (and Angel) Welch of Smithfield; great nieces and nephews, Gracie and Bobby Welch of Astoria and Piper and Billy Welch of Smithfield.

He attended Smithfield Grade School through the eighth grade and later graduated from Cuba High School in 1962. He was a veteran of the Army Reserves. He had worked at C.S. Norcross, US Post Office rural mail carrier sub, Excell Corporation and an over the road truck driver.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Pastor Ellen Dodd officiating. Burial was in Baughman Cemetery at rural Smithfield.
