Obituary Of Guy J. WrightFriends and relatives have been informed of the death of Guy Wright of 1065 Alder St., Eugene, Ore., which occurred Monday morning.
Mr. Wright had been hospitalized for some time and had undergone surgery two weeks ago.
The Wrights had visited in Astoria last August. Mr. Wright showed his collection of over 100 Bibles in the Astoria Christian Church.
Survivors include his widow, the former Miss Rose Weber of Astoria.
Mrs. Perlena Brown of Astoria went by plane to Oregon last week to be with her sister, Mrs. Wright.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Eugene, Ore.
Obituary Of Guy J. WrightFuneral services for Guy John Wright were held in the First Christian Church in Eugene, Ore., on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
He was the son of Reuben Douglas and Adelia Gahs Wright and was born at Scotville, Mich., on June 2, 1896.
As a young man he confessed his belief in Christ and joined the Christian Church at Belding, Mich. He married Rose Weber at Astoria, Aug. 3, 1925.
He attended the Academy of Johnson Bible College at Kimberlin Heights, Tenn., and took 3 years of college there, then got his A.B. at Eureka College, Eureka, Ill., in 1923. He got his AB degree in 1927 and his BD in 1928 at Drake University at Des Moines, Iowa. He was a Fellows for 2 years at Chicago University at Chicago, Ill., and graduated in “Semetic Culture” and received his Ph. D degree in 1936.
He served as a soldier in World War I and a chaplain in World War II, 1942-1946.
For 28 years he served as a minister of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in the churches of Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio and Missouri before he came to Eugene, Oregon in 1951 to serve as Professor of Bible and Hebrew at Northwest Christian College.
After he retired in 1964 he spent the following year traveling about the United States lecturing on the Bible and displaying his collection of rare and ancient Bibles.
Survivors include his wife Rose and two sisters, Eunice Skanes of Phoenix, Ariz., and Irene Wright of Washington D.C., also many nephews and nieces.
