Mrs. Carrie Walters Dies In Canton

Mrs. Carrie E. Walters, 67 of 437 N. Tenth Ave., Canton died Saturday morning in Graham Hospital, where she had been a patient eight weeks.

Born in Ipava May 29, 1898, a daughter of Daniel and Sarah Miller Johnson, she was married Sept. 4, 1918, in Astoria to Floyd Walters.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Roy D. Walters of Canton; two daughters, Mrs. Erman (Betty) Shawgo of Burlington, Iowa, and Mrs. Eugene (Dorla) Danner of Springfield; six grandchildren; one brother, Roy J. Johnson of Adair; one foster brother, Henry Block of Adair; five sisters, Mrs. Olive Shawgo and Mrs. Margaret Greve, both of Astoria, Mrs. Edna Kavanaugh of Peoria, Mrs. Mabel Easley of Lewistown, and Mrs. Mildred Taylor of Champaign. One daughter preceded her in death.

Mrs. Walters was a member of the Canton Church of the Brethren and had been a resident of Canton 13 years. Prior to moving to Canton, the Walters were residents of Astoria for several years.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon in the Church of the Brethren in Canton, by Rev. Paul Thompson. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery at Astoria.
