Lyle Vail

Lyle R. Vail, 89, of Littleton died Dec. 25, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Industry, a son of Emerson and Helen Johnston Vail. He married Doris Mae Cokenour on May 12, 1962, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2020.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Merle Vail.

Surviving are two sisters, Sandra Auten of Colchester and Marilyn Broemmer of Davenport, Iowa; one brother, Karol Vail of Woodhull; one special friend, Ruby Rice of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews.

After high school graduation he served in the U.S. Army from July 1958 to July 1960. He worked at the Littleton Elevator for 40 years before retiring. After retirement he helped Kenny Nell farm. He was a member of the Littleton Fire Department since 1967 and was a member of McDonough Telephone Co-Op Board for 27 years.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Stacy Tomich officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Littleton Fire Department.
