Russell VanDyke Of Cuba Dies

Russell R. VanDyke, 76, of Cuba, died Wednesday, April 10, 1985, in his home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1908 in Canton, the son of Charles G. and Daisy (Pollitt) VanDyke. He married Loretta Poppleston Sept. 18, 1935 in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Raymond R. of Stafford, Va., John W., of Table Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Morse of Neptune Beach, Fla., Mrs. Daisy Williams of Glasford; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest VanDyke of Banner and Jesse VanDyke of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

He retired in 1976 from Consolidated Coal Company, Norris Mines after serving as a coal miner for 40 years. He was a member of Canton Moose Lodge and UMWA Local 7110.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hukill-Henry Memorial Home in Cuba with Dr. James Shearouse officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery.
