VeteranLaurel Max Venters Of Rushville Dies

Laurel Max Venters, 63, of Rushville, died at his home at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 6, 1985.

He was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Schuyler County, the son of Laurel Monroe “Dick” and Hazel E. Davis Venters. He married Shirley Dawson on Oct. 7, 1945 in Beardstown. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Beth Ann Yost of Beardstown; his mother, Hazel E. Venters of Rushville; and one sister, Jeanette Stanley.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

He served with the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rushville. He was a member of Beardstown Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 1007. He worked for Cass County and Schuyler County Highway Departments for 32 years, and worked for Allen Henderson Associates in Springfield for five years.

Graveside services were held at the Rushville City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. Paul Sellers officiating.
