She was born May 1, 1946, in rural Ray, a daughter of Curtis and Mary Ellen Fisk Prather. She married William (Bill) Smart on April 5, 1980, in Rushville. He survives.
Also surviving are one stepson, Eric Smart (and Melinda) of rural Browning; one grandson, Brett Smart of rural Browning; one brother, Randall Prather (and Darlene) of Mindale; and one sister, Patty Davis (and Dale) of Rushville.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Diana Ocheltree.
She taught over 30 years of elementary education beginning in Fulton County and ending in Schuyler County. She worked and served on the board of the Rushville HELP Center for many years. She was office manager at Charles Place for five years. She was a member of Frederick Christian Church serving as treasurer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday with Brother Matthew Haberman officiating. Burial was in Rushville Cemetery.
