Raymond Franklin Sowers, 40, of Austin, Texas, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at the Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.
He was born Nov. 8, 1957, in Burlington, Iowa, a son of Raymond George and Lesta Lee Ikerd Sowers of Nauvoo.
He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Lyle Sowers of Nauvoo, Keith Sowers of Hamilton and Lonnie Sowers of Nauvoo; three sisters, Diane Polchow of Moline, Evonne Mitchell of Dallas City and Darlene Westcott of Nauvoo.
He was a graduate of VIT High School in Table Grove. He was a talented landscaper and designer and had worked in this field in Austin, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, camping and outdoor plants.
A private graveside service was held Monday, June 1, at the Nauvoo City Cemetery in Nauvoo with Rev. Randy White officiating. A memorial service will be held in Austin at a later date. Lamporte Funeral Home of Nauvoo was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
