Mrs. Bertha B. Schnarr, 86, of Spoon River Towers, Lewistown, died at 5:05 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 1985, in McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. She was a long time resident of Lewistown.
She was born Oct. 4, 1899, in Letcher Co., Ky., the daughter of Calvin and Rebecca Jane (Holcomb) Brown. She married Gus Schnarr Sr. July 5, 1921, in Carthage. He died March 8, 1971.
Survivors include three sons, Gus Jr. and Berton Schnarr, both of Lewistown, and Harold Schnarr of Canton; six daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Hilton of Silver Spring Shores, Fla., Mrs. Betty Wilson of Montgomery, Ala., Mrs. Darlene Heffren of Oklawaha, Fla., Mrs. Pat McCloskey of Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. Gen Belville of Lewistown and Mrs. Creta Harper of Chillicothe; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one half-brother, Frank Brown, of Wyconda, Mo.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers.
She attended the Cuba Bible Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Mike Claphan officiating. Burial was in Apple Cemetery, rural Lewistown.
