Harold R. Stauffer, 76, of Rural Route 1, Congerville, died at 10:400 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 1984, at Washington Christian Village, where he had been a resident for 3½ weeks.
He was born Feb. 7, 1908, in Bader, a son of George H. and Ada Reibling Stauffer. He married Genevieve Ertmoed Oct. 31, 1982, in Tremont. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Arbutus) Wilson of Peoria; one son, Bradley Stauffer of St. Louis, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Edward (Julie) Steinbeck of Congerville; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. William (Velma) Leib of Queen Creek, Ariz., Mrs. Ilo Clifford of Pekin, and Mrs. A. O. (Evelyn) Humphrey of Peoria; and one brother, Galen Stauffer of Green Valley.
He was a member of the Congerville Senior Citizens Club and attended Tremont Methodist Church. He owned and operated R&M Superette grocery store in Peoria for 25 years, retiring in 1978.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Davis Mortuary in Tremont with Rev. Robert Pitsch officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.
Memorials may be made to the Tremont Methodist Church building fund.
