VeteranCleve Stambaugh Dies At Age 85

Cleve Stambaugh, 85, of Route 2, Astoria, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1975, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

Mr. Stambaugh was born near Astoria, March 15, 1890, the son of John and Amanda Skiles Stambaugh. He married Nellie Derry, Feb. 11, 1918, in Rushville. She survives.

He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War One.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Louise McMillan of Astoria; four sons, Eugene of Abingdon, Wayne of Summum, Richard of Astoria and Larry of Canton; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Freeman of Astoria and Glen of Adair and two half sisters, Mrs. Rachel Stroops of Henderson and Mrs. Inez Palmer of Astoria. He was preceded in death by a sister, four brothers, a half brother and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
