Mrs. Achsa Mitchell received word Friday, about noon, of the death of her sister, Mrs. Lillian Spangler, 80, of Bushnell, death occurring at McDonough District Hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell. Rev. Lander Gutel officiated and burial was in Bardolph Cemetery.
Mrs. Spangler was born at Bardolph Aug. 11, 1894, the daughter of William and Hettie Wetzel Battin. She attended the Wetzel rural school. She married Simon Spangler at Peoria Sept. 10, 1912. He died in February 1943.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary and the Four Square Household Science Club, having lived in the Bushnell area for 60 years.
She is survived by nine children; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Achsa Mitchell of Table Grove and Miss Fannie Battin of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a brother, Sidney Battin of Adair. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, five brothers, two sisters and two grandsons.
