Bobby R. Rhoades Sr., 89, of Rushville died Feb. 22, 2025.
He was born June 9, 1935, in Sheldons Grove, a son of Earl and Erma Edwards Rhoades. He married Sharon Lael Spears on Sept. 16, 1992, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2009.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Todd Rhoades; three brothers, Richard Rhoades, Lester Rhoades and Ray Rhoades; three sisters, Virginia Bushnell, Maxine Davis and Betty Harn; and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Rhoades.
Surviving are three children, Bobby (and Cathy) Rhoades Jr. of Meredosia, and Rob Rhoades and Elana Rhoades, both of Rushville; one sister, Joyce Rhoades of Florida; fiance, Sandy Martin; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He served in the US Army in Germany from 1958-61. He was formerly employed with Archer-Daniel-Midland Chemical Plant, Ohio River Company, and finally for 41 years with Oscar Mayer, Excel Corporation and Cargill, all in Beardstown until his retirement in April 2008. His entire life he assisted in farming operations in Schuyler County.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home of Beardstown. A visitation will be one hour prior to services.
