Murray ReynoldsMurray S. Reynolds, 65, of Rushville died at 9:58 a.m. Nov. 22, 2024, at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Sept. 12, 1959, in Pekin, a son of John F. and Rosalie Bilyeu Reynolds. He married Mary Stephens on June 29, 1990, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jonathan “J.D.” (and Joy) Reynolds of Springfield; four brothers, Scott Reynolds and Eric Reynolds, both of Rushville, Todd Reynolds (and Beth) of Winfield and Morgan (and Debbie) Reynolds of Yorkville; and three grandchildren.

He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1977 where he played football and ran track. While attending WIU, he was employed by his father at Reynolds Insurance Agency. After graduating from WIU in 1981, he purchased Reynolds Insurance where he ran a successful business for 40 years before retiring in 2021. Throughout his career, Murray earned several Pekin Insurance awards and trips. He was a member of Rushville Lodge #9 AF and AM, Quincy Consistory AASR, Macomb Commandery #56 and Ansar Shrine of Springfield.

He was a past director of the Royal Order of Jester’s Court #20. He organized a yearly golf fundraiser for the Shriners Children’s Hospital. He also was a member of Schuyler County 22 Club, Scripps Park Golf League, Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007 BPOE, Rushville Moose Lodge #506 and the Illinois Rifle Association. He was a volunteer on the Rushville Fire Department for many years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 7, at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Eyler officiating. Masonic services will follow. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, Rushville Public Library, Scripps Park Golf Course, Rushville Fire Deparment or Cass-Schuyler Hospice.
