Richard Allen Robinson, 90, of Astoria died at 10:47 a.m. Sept. 1, 2024, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.
He was born March 3, 1934, at his childhood home in Browning, a son of Oscar and Elsie Summers Robinson. He married Shirley Beaird on June 12, 1964, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Terry Robinson (and Tina) of Quincy and Tammy Robinson of Astoria; one sister, Joan Cox of Galesburg; one brother, Marvin (and Kitty) Robinson of Summum; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Robinson; and one sister, Lucille Utter.
He attended a one-room school in Schuyler County and later attended Anchor Bay where he received his ministry license. He served in the U. S. Army from 1956-58. He worked for Caterpillar for over 20 years and also was a minister for over 40 years. He was a minister at the Rushville Baptist Church and also opened up the Christian Neck Church outside of Rushville where he preached. He also ministered at several funerals, nursing homes, revivals and chapels.
He and his family attended Astoria Assembly of God Church for several years and Bader Christian Church. He was a past member of the Astoria Lions Club.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. Cody Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Messerer Cemetery with military honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and U.S. Army Honors Detail. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
