Mrs. Josephine L. Rouse, 97, formerly of Bushnell, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 1985, at Avon Nursing Home, where she had been a patient six years.
She was born June 26, 1888, in Fulton County, the daughter of James and Mary (Pittman) Mason. She first married Dwight Knowlton. She later married Lewis M. Rouse Dec. 31, 1929, in Bushnell. He died March 20, 1979.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Joanna Smith of Bushnell; three stepchildren, Dale Rouse of Ipava, Harry Rouse and Isabelle Rouse, both of Galesburg; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, one grandson, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters.
She was a member of Bushnell United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Bushnell Cemetery with Rev. Ted Snider officiating.
