VeteranDr. Jean Raker Of Canton Dies

Dr. Jean D. Raker, 55, of 505 E. Maple, Canton, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, Mar. 10, 1985, in Illini Hospital, Silvis.

Born Aug. 12, 1929, in Canton to A. Dudley and Hazel E. Whitehead Raker, he married Phoebe Bosko Oct. 23, 1959, in Anniston, Ala.

A graduate of Canton High School, he was a 1959 graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College and had practiced in Canton since then.

He was a member of International Chiropractic Association, Palmer College Alumni Association, Pi Tau Delta, an honorary society of the college, and the Alligators Club of Fulton County.

He also was a member of Morning Star Masonic Lodge, Peoria Consistory, Mohammed Temple, Shrine; American Legion Post 16, VFW Post 1984 and Loyal Order of Moose 784. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Drew (Terry) Daily of East Peoria; and two sons, James D. Raker of Davenport, Iowa, and John S. Raker, at home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Oaks Memorial Chapel, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Joel Bensema officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
