VeteranCarroll Runkle Dies In California

Carroll Runkle, 51, of Los Angeles, Calif., died Oct. 26, 1975, in Los Angeles.

He was born April 8, 1924, in Vermont, a son of Roland and Elva Etter Runkle.

His school years were in Pekin, graduating with the class of 1942. He had one year at Purdue University and then went into the service for his country. He was in Belgium part of this time. While there, he met and married Jenny Pinte.

In 1946 they came to Bushnell where he worked for Vaughn and Bushnell. In 1948 he and his family moved to California, where he worked for Safeway Grocers for 27 years.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Elva Runkle of Bushnell; his widow, of Los Angeles; one son, Eric, also of Los Angeles; one daughter, Mrs. Dan (Betsy) Higgins of Lincoln, Nebr.; and one sister, Mrs. Jack (Ralva Jean) Garrett of Bushnell.

Funeral services and burial were in California.
