Luan PhillipsVirgie L. “Luan” Phillips, 76, of Rushville died Nov. 20, 2025, at Beardstown Health and Rehab Center.

She was born Oct. 2, 1949, in Schuyler County, the daughter of the late Clinton Eckroy and Maxine Ambrosius Eckroy Alvarez. She married Richard Phillips on Aug. 7, 1998, in Rushville. He survives.

Also surviving are four children, Lori Thompson (and Mark), Bryan Horsch (and Micki), Julie Davis (and Tom) and Lynde France (and Nick); one brother, Bill Eckroy (and Kathy); 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six siblings, Don Eckroy, Gracie Eckroy, Rita Downs, Sherry Leverton, Jean Eckroy and James Eckroy; one great-granddaughter, Anna Bowles; and two Bowles great-grandchildren in infancy.

She was the Director of Community Relations at Sarah D Culbertson Memorial Hospital for many years. She was Past President of the Board of the Rushville Library and was instrumental in the development of the new library by writing the grant that funded its construction.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dan Wise officiating. Burial followed at the Rushville City Cemetery.
