Samuel PorterSamuel H. Porter, 90, of Ipava died Jan. 17, 2025.

He was born Sept. 21, 1934, in Macomb, a son of Paul and Lela Howell Porter. He married Linda Tyler on Oct. 14, 1956, in Ipava. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Craig (and Cindy) Porter, Brian (and Lonna) Porter and Brenda (and Dave) Crouse, all of Ipava; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Bill Porter, Kathryn Miller and Mary Keefauver; and one daughter, Christie Kaye Porter.

He was a proud veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1952-55 in the United States Navy.

He was a lifelong row crop farmer, cattleman and inventor in greater Pleasant Township. He was heavily involved in the Ipava Presbyterian Church as a 78-year member, Ipava Fire Department, Ipava American Legion Post #17, VIT School Board and Fulton County Farm Bureau.

Services will be held at Ipava Presbyterian Church in Ipava at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Charles Walden officiating. A visitation will be held at Ipava Presbyterian Church prior to services on Thursday, 9-11 a.m. Burial will be in the Ipava Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by Ipava American Legion Post #17. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
