He was born May 12, 1955, in Rushville, a son of William and Retha Wells Prather. He married Kathy Eskridge on Feb. 14, 1982, in Industry. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ryan Prather (and Haley) of Mount Sterling and Aaron Prather (and Sarah) of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Scott Prather (and Angie) of Rushville; numerous nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marsha Morrell.
He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1973. He drove a truck for a living. He attended Houston Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dan Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery.
