Sherman M. Phillips Of Iowa Dies

Sherman M. Phillips of Burlington, Iowa, formerly of Rushville and Plymouth, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 1985, at his home.

He was born Jan. 2, 1907, in Schuyler County, a sons of Sammuel and Sarah (Dorsett) Phillips. He married Eva Blanche Cox on March 4, 1933, in Plymouth. She died on May 24, 1978.

Surviving are three sons, Robert and Joseph of Burlington, and David of Iowa City, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Retha) Butler of Morning Sun, Iowa, Mrs. Ansel (Patricia) Shannon and Mrs. Robert (Jane) Sommerfield, both of Burlington, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was retired from the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middleton, Iowa, and the West Burlington Post Office.

He was a member of the West Burlington Moose Lodge and Eagle Club.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 8, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Plymouth with Rev. Len Camp officiating. Burial was in Cox Cemetery near Plymouth.
