Leroy E. Powell Dies At Age 54Leroy E. Powell Dies At Age 54Leroy E. Powell, 54, of Bader died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 1975, at his residence. He had been under a doctor’s care for a heart condition.
Mr. Powell was born on Feb. 8, 1921, at Canton, a son of William and Lillian Newman Powell. He married Violet Jean Pilger on Aug. 24, 1958, at Vermont. She survives.
He served in the armed forces from 1945 to 1946.
Survivors include seven children at home, Andy, Lily, Brenda, Leroy Jr., Tammy, Mary, and Alva; three brothers, Ralph of Ray, Art of Fiatt, and Alva of Linwood, Calif.
One daughter, one brother, and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at the Nazarene Church in Astoria with Rev. Lester Burgard officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
