Edward Powell Dies Friday

Edward Powell, 65, of 556 Baxter Court, Canton, died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 1975 at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born July 22, 1904, in Astoria Township, a son of William and Lillie Curless Powell.

He was married to Daisy Howard May 31, 1924, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Junior E. Powell and Perry Powell, both of Canton, and Jack Powell of rural Edelstein; one daughter, Mrs. Vivian Hackett of rural Cuba; four brothers, Arthur of Midway, Alva of California, Leroy of Bader, and Ralph of Ray; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Powell retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1965 after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Canton Civil Defense Unit, the Fulton County Citizens’ Band Radio Club and Caterpillar Retirees.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton. Rev. Michael Huson officiated and burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
