Vern Edward Prather, 46, of Ray, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, Aug. 17, at his home.
He was born in Oakland Township in Schuyler County on Feb. 21, 1919, a son of Clarence and Estella Curtis Prather. He was married to Viola Greenplate at Palmyra, Mo., on June 4, 1938. She survives.
Also surviving are his father; two sons, Jerry E. Prather of Ray and Gary Prather of Rushville; one daughter, Debra Prather, at home; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Curtis Prather of LaPrairie and William Prather of Ray; and one sister, Pauline Skiles of Rushville.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Rushville with Rev. Marshal H. Ervin officiating. Burial was in Rushville Cemetery.
