VeteranWillis Nielsen Of Macomb Dies

Willis Nielsen, 65, of 2112 Maple, Macomb, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1985, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Vermont, the son of Dr. John and Iva (Price) Nielsen. He married Esther Patton Sept. 4, 1943, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She survives.

Other survivors include a sister, Ruth Lindstrom of Calumet Citiy; and a half sister, Erna Watkiss of South Pasadena, Fla.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and a half sister.

A 1938 graduate of Vermont High School, he was a 1942 graduate of Western Illinois University. He served in the Navy Air Corps from 1942-45, and had lived in Macomb most of his life.

He was co-owner of Builders Supply Co., in Macomb, since 1953.

He was a member of Macomb American Legion, VFW and Elks Club, Vermont Masonic Lodge and Field Trial Clubs of Illinois. He was also a member of Vermont Christian Church and Ducks Unlimited.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Mortonson officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
