He was born Dec. 22, 1946, in Canton, a son of Lowell and Bernadine Sheets Maxson. He married Delores Fewkes on Oct. 28, 1968, in Jefferson City, Mo. She preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2025.
He also was preceded in death by one stepson, Donnie Rutledge; one step-granddaughter, Cheyenne Rutledge; and two brothers, Larry and John Maxson.
Surviving are one daughter, Deanna (and Joe) Twaddle of Smyrna, Tenn.; one stepson, Tommy Rutledge Jr.; two sisters, Mary McCloskey of Jacksonville and Joyce Maxson of Ipava; one brother, Bill (and Ruth) Maxson of Canton; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He worked and retired from International Harvester.
Services were held Thursday, June 4, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Mike Ulmer officiating. Burial was in the Bushnell Cemetery.
