He was born April 1, 1983, in Rushville, a son of Virgil McGinnis and Darla Kay Koepp Moses.
Surviving are his father, Virgil McGinnis (and Mary) of Anderson Lake; Sanna Estes (and Bret) of Rushville; four children, Jordan Matthew, Kennadey Elizabeth Layne, Ryatt Jon and Reed Monty McGinnis; three brothers, Kenny McGinnis (companion Tracy Shaw) of Astoria, Luke McGinnis (and Rachel) of Rushville and Jeff McGinnis of Astoria; one sister, Chelsea Thomas (and James) of Anderson Lake; one stepbrother, Zachary Mibbs (and Morgan) of Havana.
He was preceded in death by his mom; his grandfather, Ralph McGinnis; grandmother, Annie Park; and one aunt, Barb Crenshaw.
He attended Pekin Schools. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Browning Fire Department. He spent 16 years as a deckhand and commercial fisherman working for locals.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery. A visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the memorial home. He would have wanted everyone to “Come as you are,” so dress casually.
