Virginia B. McCausland, 100, of Peoria died at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 8, 2025, at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria, where she was loved and cared for.Virginia B. McCausland, 100, of Peoria died at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 8, 2025, at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria, where she was loved and cared for.
She was born June 1, 1924, in Kerton Township, a daughter of Lyle and Greeta Horner Butler. She married Carl James McCausland on May 22, 1943, at Maxwell Field, Montgomery, Ala., while he was stationed with the Army Air Corps. He preceded her in death.
She also was preceded in death by three daughters, four brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one brother, Rodney Butler; six grandchildren, Janna, Geoff (Amy), Jared, Josh (Keri), Abby (Kyle) and Adam; and six great-grandchildren, Morgan, Caden, Henry, Casey, Grace and Holden.
She graduated from Lewistown High School and Peoria Institute of Business. She worked at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
She tended a farm with her husband.
She was a committed member of Lewistown United Methodist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lewistown United Methodist Church with Pastor Shane Smith officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.
