Dean C. Malott, 80, of rural Table Grove died at 9:02 a.m. Dec. 11, 2024, at his home.
He was born Sept. 18, 1944, in McDonough County, a son of John Lawrence and Nedra Abernathy Malott. He married Verla Steele on June 27, 1965, in Table Grove. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Tami (and Frank) Curley; one sister, Shirley (and Larry) Roberts; three grandchildren, Dustin (and Rachel) Curley, Meshiah Curley and Pairn Sheslay “Honey” Floyd; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Blane “Blaner” Curley; and one brother, Dale Malott.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1968-70 in the Vietnam War with a rank of Sergeant.
He worked for International Harvester for 18 and 1/2 years, then retired from Pioneer Hybrid in Good Hope. He was a member of the Ipava American Legion and the VFW in Bushnell.
A Celebration of Life was held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Mike Ulmer officiating. Military rites were provided by the Ipava American Legion.
