Dale McMahon Dies In Hospital

Dale E. McMahon, 83, of Abingdon, died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 1985, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Nov. 13, 1901, near Farmington, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie McMahon. He married Ruth Clark. She preceded him in death in March of 1968. He then married Hazel Shinn Feb. 7, 1970, in Abingdon. She survives.

Other survivors include two stepsons, Robert Shinn and Don Shinn, both of Abingdon; two stepdaughters, Beulah Hall of Baraboo, Wis., and Betty Selph of Vermont; two sisters, Clana Porter of Yates City and Nellie Lucas of Drake, Colo.; 11 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great, great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters.

He was a section hand for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1966, and lived most of his life in the Galesburg and Abingdon areas. He attended school near Farmington and was a member of the Methodist faith.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 a.m. at Larson Funeral Home in Abingdon with Rev. Paul Knight officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg.
