Charles Sumner Merrill, 77, of Junction City, Kans., formerly of Astoria and Canton, died at Valley View Care Center in Junction City on Feb. 21, 1985.
He was born Aug. 22, 1907, at Astoria, a son of Benjamin and Hattie Leininger Merrill. He married Ida M. Lockard. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Joan Linn of Elmwood; one granddaughter, Sue Heidel; four great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Clara Toland, Lucille James and Kathryn Pollock of Macomb, Charlotte Bollender of Denver, Colo., and Margaret Schreiber of Oskaloosa, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wendell and Joe, and five sisters, Cordelia Bryan, Julia Greenup, Helen Boo, Ruth Watson and Belle Merrill.
Mr. Merrill was a salesman and manager of Lock’s Fordtown for many years.
He was buried in Junction City on Thursday.
A memorial service is being planned by his family for a later date.
