Ronald Mercer, Sr. Dies In Arkansas

Ronald E. Mercer, Sr., 46, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., a former Ipava resident, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 1985, in a Hot Springs hospital.

He was born June 17, 1938, in Canton, a son of Clifford and Ila Onion Mercer. He married Ruth Ann Clark on July 14, 1976. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents, of Ipava; two sons, Ronald E. Mercer, Jr., of San Antonio, Tex., and Steven Mercer, at home; two daughters, Pamela Copeland of Pekin and Stephanie Mercer, at home; and three grandchildren.

He was a real estate salesman for Belvedere Resort in Hot Springs Village. He was in Chamber of Commerce management for 16 years. He attended Texas Christian University, University of Oklahoma, Southern Methodist University, Humbolt University, University of Colorado and Notre Dame. He was a member of the First Christian Church at Mt. Pleasant, Tex.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Ipava Christian Church with burial in the Ipava Cemetery.

Friends may call at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava any time Thursday afternoon and evening. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
