Ruth Matteson, 95, a resident of the Applegate Inn Nursing Home at Monmouth, died at 7 p.m. Nov. 23, 1980, in the nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Matteson had lived in Galesburg for many years and was a former cook at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. She was a member of the Galesburg Advent Christian Church.
Born Sept. 7, 1885, in Warren County, she was a daughter of Arthur and Viney (Forbes) Frymire. She married Warren Laben Matteson in 1908, in Monmouth and he died on Nov. 6, 1942.
Surviving are two sons, Frank Matteson of Vermont and Arthur Matteson of Fairview; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Lonteen of Clearwater, Fla., and Mrs. Marian Reese of Monmouth; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren.
Three of the grandchildren are Garry Matteson and Mrs. William (Janice) Shank of Vermont and Warren Matteson of Lake Park, Fla., formerly of Vermont.
One son, Fred, four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Turnbull Funeral Home with Rev. James Crangle officiating. Burial was in Roseville Cemetery at Roseville.
