Mrs. Bessie Lafary Of Astoria Dies

Mrs. Bessie Lafary, 81, of Route 2, Astoria, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 1975, at the Clarytona Manor Nursing Home in Lewistown.

She was born June 23, 1894, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, the daughter of Samuel and Lucina Brown Lawver. She was married on Nov. 5, 1921, to Emmett Lafary, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Ward of Astoria; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two half-brothers, Clyde Lawver and Edgar Lawver, both of Moline. One daughter, three brothers, two sisters, three half-sisters and one half-brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Pickering Cemetery near Bernadotte.
