Services Held For Mrs. Fern Leighty

Funeral services for Mrs. Fern N. Leighty of west of Vermont were held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon at the Kost Memorial Home in Vermont, the Rev. Ray Watson officiating, followed by burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at Macomb. Mrs. Leighty died Saturday at 6:10 a.m. in Mason District Hospital where she had been a patient 27 days.

She was born in Eldorado Township July 13, 1886 to John and Cyrena Fowler Nelson. She married Ralph W. Leighty in Eldorado Township Jan. 12, 1911. He survives with one son, L. Mack Leighty of Vermont; one daughter, Mrs. Laura L. Howard of North Hollywood, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Ralph W. Nelson of Vermont and J. Ward Nelson of Barry. Eight sisters are deceased.

Mrs. Leighty was a member of the West Prairie Presbyterian Church, Women’s Association of that church, and Eldorado Unit of Homemakers Extension.
