Zeb F. Kost, 81, Of Vermont Dies

Zeb F. Kost, 81, of Rural Route, Vermont, died at 11:34 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1975, at the Memorial Hospital in Springfield.

Mr. Kost was born May 10, 1894, in Vermont, the son of Stephen Arnold and Lydia Lucinda Horwedel Kost. He married Maude Marie Crusier on Sept. 16, 1916, at Peoria. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1973.

Mr. Kost was a retired farmer and he worked for the Illinois Department of Conservation as a game warden for 20 years. He was a member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge AF and AM No. 116 and the Modern Woodman Lodge. He was also a Past Patron of the Crescent Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen D. Kost, of Spokane, Wash., and Caroll L. Kost of Vermont; one daughter, Mrs. Carmen A. Ashwood of Vermont; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kuykendall, New Harmony, Ind., Mrs. Eva Burrus, Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Loka Schmoldt, Beardstown; and one brother, Ned of Basin, Wyo.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.
