VeteranJack D. Johnson Dies At Age 52

Jack D. Johnson, 52, of rural Smithfield, died at 2:05 p.m. Monday, May 6, 1985, in Banner Township.

He was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Fulton County, a son of Woodrow and Mary S. Pollitt Johnson. He married Audrey Rebold on April 16, 1955, in New London, Conn. She survives.

Also surviving are his father, of rural Ellisville; two daughters, Tammy Fults of Lincoln and Beth Johnson, at home; two sons, Michael Johnson of Lincoln and Mark Johnson, at home; two grandchildren; and three brothers, Larry Johnson of Avon, Grant Johnson of rural Cuba, and Kent Johnson of Ellisville.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two daughters.

Mr. Johnson was employed at Freeman United Electric Coal Co., last working in August 1984. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Lewistown, Moose Lodge 784, VFW Post 1984 and Eagles Lodge 580, all of Canton. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lewistown with Rev. Robert O’Connor officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Canton.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton where the Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m.
