She was born April 9, 1949, a daughter of Norman and Agnes Loscheider Peterson in Grand Rapid, Minn. She married Michael Heinz on June 6, 1988, in Yuma, Ariz.
Surviving are two daughters, Julie Heinz and Timery Mcconhay (and Lane); three sons, James Heinz, Daniel Heinz and Charles “Tony” Anthony Engert; one sister, Sandy Burdine; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Heinz; and two brothers, Richard Peterson and Norman Peterson.
She graduated from Clairmont College, receiving a nursing degree. After graduation she worked at the Clairmont Hospital in San Diego, Calif., for 18 years where she treated Muhammad Ali when he got his jaw broken. She then moved to Rushville where she worked at Culbertson Memorial Hospital. She then went to work at the Illinois River Correctional Center in Canton and finished her career at Excel in Beardstown, retiring at age 66.
She was a member of Moose Lodge 506 in Rushville.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
