Denzil M. Harper, 55, of Astoria, who was called to Richwood, W. Va. after the death of his mother there on June 14, died at Richwood Saturday afternoon, June 21, 1975, after suffering a heart attack Friday night.
A retired Naval Chief Petty Officer, he was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. For the last 15 years he had been an electrician for Amax Coal Co. near Astoria.
He was born at Sutton, W. Va., Sept. 27, 1919, the son of Ernie G. and Maze V. Stutler Harper and married Loretta Dunlap.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Jo Roder of Morganstown, W. Va., and Miss Ann Harper of Astoria; two sons, Douglas J. of Astoria and Richard N. of Macomb; one sister, Mrs. Roy Cool of Shinston, W. Va.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon at High Knob United Methodist Church in Richwood, W. Va., with burial in the church cemetery.
