David Truman “Squeak” Gale, aka “Big Fish”, of Ipava died at his home on April 20, 2025.
He was born May 27, 1951, in Macomb, the son of Truman and Louise Batterton Gale. He married Arlene Steele on Aug. 8, 1969, in Table Grove. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Christopher Gale; one grandson, Trenton Gale; two sisters, Norma Weishaar and Donna (and Dave) Thome; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In high school he began working with local construction companies and farmers. After graduation from VIT High School, he worked at NTN Bowers in Macomb and International Harvester in Canton for 14 years before returning to grain and livestock farming full time.
He was a member of Vermont Methodist Church and the Fulton County Farm Bureau.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Mike Ulmer officiating. A visitation will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday before the service. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fulton County Ambulance or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
