Howard E. Groff, 80, of rural Lewistown died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 1985, at his home.
He was born July 7, 1905, in Lawton, Okla., a son of Samuel E. and Eva (Huff) Groff. He married Maxine Heller Oct. 5, 1930, in Ipava. She died Dec. 27, 1984.
Survivors include one son, Richard of Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Everist of Canton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was a retired construction carpenter and a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in rural Lewistown. He was also a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Local of Pekin for 35 years and had served as business agent of the same union’s Havana local.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Joe Richard officiating. Burial was at Ipava Cemetery.
