When “Hazel’s Friend” was notified of her death, she asked that we print her Memorial to Hazel, which follows:
Word has reached me today that I have lost my dear friend of so many years. We shared many good times and sorrows too. I learned much from visiting with Hazel and reading her Summum column in the paper. Her contribution to our communities was so great that we will always be in her debt.
A friend is not the sort to whom
You ever need explain.
She’s one who knows you inside out,
And loves you just the same.
The world is a poorer place without you my friend, but I am richer for having known you.
