Michael Duckwiler

Michael DuckwilerMichael L. Duckwiler, 67, of Summum died Nov. 21, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born April 27, 1957, in Canton, a son of Albert L. and Edith L. Peters Duckwiler. He married Debra A. Brooks on June 10, 1978, in Havana. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mary (and Virgil) McGinnis of Anderson Lake; one son, Craig (and Jaime) Grove of Lewistown; two brothers, Steven (and MariAnn Sealock) Duckwiler of Ipava and Daniel L. (and Lisa M.) Duckwiler of Havana; three sisters, Sara (and Dwight) Allen of Havana, Brenda (and Kirk) Thompson of Good Hope and Sheila (and Reggie Vaughn) White of Canton; seven grandchildren; three bonus grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alvin Duckwiler and Raymond Doug Duckwiler; one sister, Lucinda Vaughn; one niece, Kaila Duckwiler; and one great-niece, Xena (Bowman) Hoerr.

He was a jack of all trades. He worked at National Standard in Havana for over 20 years; he also worked at Wilder Farms and then for Spoon River Blacktop. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Astoria Fire Department for many years. He was a member of Summum Christian Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rebecca Rankins officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery in Summum.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude or to Henry-Lange Memorial Home to assist the family with final expenses.
